The Real Face of Avatars

It is late in the evening, your room is dark and the only thing that gives some light is the computer screen. You can't just stop the game, you've just found a girl that is kicking your butt from another country, and it seems she is hot as hell. Look at her avatar! She may be as hot as the girl in the game right?...You're wrong man! so wrong...

Avatars are like illusions, avatars are like masks. It is actually a mind game too, because sometimes the brain is fooled into thinking the person has a resemblance to their game characteror avtaar. And that...is dangeorus. Even more so if the face behind that big breasted fighting ninja is a fat bald japanese man.

BBC News, made a story about people behind the avatars, and found out that reality is unfortunately not as good as we would like. See the report here at Online gamers unmasked

Xbox is a correct word - Gamecube and Playstation are not

According to MS Word autocorrect feature, if you type Xbox you are tyuping a legally correct happy word. But what about the competition????

It seems they don't give a fuck about that. Try typing Playstation, try typing Gamecube. Wha'happened?? This is interesting, it shows everytime the make a product they add it to their dictionary database. ONLY THEIR PRODUCTS. That's cool for them, but not for me. Everybody has to be treated eqqquaaall!!! urgh!!! :P

Ok, That's it. Peace!!!!!!!!

Super Mario World. Reeeeemix!

A Man. A Game. An inspiration... How can a guy pay tribute to one of the greatest games for the SNES? Drawing? Playing? Using a Bowser costume? Jason Cox found the perfect way for him to express his inner feelings and deliver a masterpiece of music, much to the like of The Beatles.

Hear these amazing tracks of live music inspired by the game "Super Mario World"

The complete soundtrack to Super Mario World, covered by one man using dozens of instruments. Roughly in game order, faithful to the originals, with some bizarre artistic license thrown around. A private hobby made public.

A Look at Video Game Movies

MSNBC has an article about "the golden years" of video game-inspired movies. They start by sayinf they al suck, and they couln't be any more right.

I remember as a young playah going to the cinema to see the Super Mario Bros movie.... did you see that? The only thing that looked like the game was Mario!! Hell!! what a piece of shit!! and then Mortal Kombat???? They don't mention Street Fighter on the article but they shouldn't because I think you can't even call it a movie!. VG movies have that special feature of taking all the coolness of videogames.

I have not seen Doom yet, but my guess is the only cool part of the movie will be the final one when the movie looks like the game, as a FPS. It's like Alien vs Predator. WHY HIRE STUPID DIRECTORS TO DO STUPID IDEAS???

*LATEST NEWS*(For me anyway) There will be another Mortal Kombat Movie: Devastation. Read the article here. That news are so old I shouldn't post it..

Coolest characters: Alucard - Castlevania

Alucard is one of the coolest characters in one of the coolest games: Castlevania. Alucard first show up on Castlevania III, but it is not until the best game on Castlevania series that we see Alucard shine in all his splendor!! I'm talking about Symphony of the Night.

He's weak at first. But do no underestimate him!!! During the course of the game he will be stronger and stonger! and if you know the cheats, he'll be invincible!!! that's right playaz, if you haven't played this game you should buy a second hand PSOne or a Ps2 and play it. Seriously.

Enough talk! I'm leaving you some link for you to check! NO roms though, don't want legal probs. Cya!

So let's say if you are playing Megaman X, and the game freezes on the very instant Megaman X is leting go a Shot, that Megaman alone is a Megaman X Sprite. And since I'm talking about Megaman X Sprite I'm gonna leave you guys the best pages that have Megaman X Sprites!!! We'll be doing this once in a while for different games. And don't think I've forgot about the Video game Babes! they're coming too!!

Gameboy Advance SP is a Bad boy too!

Look at this ad. What do you think the boy is doing?????

The pictures of women give you a hint?

May be a fake but still cool!

Wario Ware's Backward Masking

Backward Masking is when someone put a message on a recording backwards. We have many examples on that. Songs like "Hotel California" and "Stairway to heaven" rock classics.

Now it is the turn of the Nintendo DS to put subliminal messages. Watch the Wario Ware Secret Message Video and you will hear a very special message, more interesting because Nintendo always have ben the good boy" of consoles. (Horrible images of Mortal Kombat without blood, come to my mind)

Happy Birthday Dear NES!! With a delay

I feel like I forgot one of my best friend's birthday. Yeah, whatever anyway: Happy Birthday and 2 days!!! The NES is 20 years old, I wouldn't say alive and kicking, but I would say living virtually through ROMs.... Memories..memories...how long will you stay...

The NES came to life on October 18th, 1985 in the US, so my guess is it should be a little older.
Don't forget next year! he's turning 21, now we can go drink some Vodka Tonics!

The Nintendo NES Micro

It seems everyday people come up with new gadgets. The last one (at least realted to video games) is the NES Micro. This dude, hacked the Gameboy Micro and made it compatible with NES games! adn with NES cartridges, so you must buy the original NES games if you want to do something like that!

In his page: Ben Heckendorn's NES Micro, he detais step by step how he made this wonder of nature..I mean..of technology. And shows us more geeky ways to use our free time!

That's it for today, got a lotta work. See y'all!!! Peace!

Steven Spielberg works for EA

Tha man who brought a lot of my favorite movies was hired by Electronic Arts to make 3 games!!
3 games!!. Now that games are like movies, imagine what a genius like Spielberg can bring to us, let's hope the world doesn't come to an en before the releases...

Hollywood and games are closing together, and keep in mind that in the future it could be a shitty thing to happen, just look at all the pre-made movies hollywood guys are specialized in. If you don't know, Peter Jackson also signed earlier this week to make movie based on the game Halo.

Birdo Our Transsexual Friend

This may be shocking to some of you but the truth is the truth and no one can change it.

Birdo is a transsexual.

Remember Birdo from Mario Bros 2 on NES? If you are too young probably not, but the if you are too young you shouldn't be looking this site!! The thing is that Birdo was a "he" in SMB2, his description was like this:

"He thinks he is a girl an he spits eggs from his mouth. He'd rather be called 'Birdetta' "

WTF?? It seems Mr. Miyamoto, although he is a genius, is a little perverted japanese! What's that about spitting eggs form his mouth?? Did he swallow too much?? Anyway, it seems Birdo finally took a step further in the year 2000 thanks to the medical advances in the field of sex change and now he is she. A woman. If you don't believe me ask Yoshi, who appears on the Mario Tennis for N64's game manual in some romantic situations.

You didn't know that?...Now you do, just be cool. Peace!!

The Next Generation of Gamers

I was reading a post in Joystiq yesterday about their review of the Xbox 360. They get on to talk about the new features of the 360 and how it is new in the aspect of playing online. They also mention that the advances of the Xbox 360 is geared more to the new generation of gamers.

More than entering a new era of consoles we are entering a new era of gaming. Over the years and with games like Counter Strike and Unreal we've seen how gamers are becoming popular and some people emerge as elite. This next generation is all about seeing gaming not only as a single player mode but as a collective experience, more like sunday football games. I think it's cool, although I probably won't spend a sunday afternoon seeing the Dead or Alive World Cup!

To reach that point maybe we should make games fully customizable in terms on the player, and I mean FULLY, that way we could recognize each player. Like a car that has distinctives features and tweakings. If someone is geared towards next gen gamers, I think they should follow that path.

Peace!!!!

id Plans making a Quake Movie

After Doom: the movie, more video games movies are on plans. id Software spoke to Sci Fi Wire and they reveal that a Quake movie is in plan. They even think of it before the Doom movie! I just hope that movie Doom doesn't suck, but probably will...

Anyway tat isn't nothing that matter id. According to Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, "It won't make much difference to us, we see everything independently, But in the ranks of Hollywood, if they see the Doom movie as successful, it will raise the interest level and they would want other game movies and come to us."

Read the story here

Governator after Violent Games

Mr. Governator aka Arnie, has signed a bill on violent videogames. This bill bans the sale or rental of violent videogames to minors.
I'm not a minor so I don't care, I can play whatever I want. But if you want to read more about this go to this link:

Governator Signs Bill on Violent Games

That's a great gesture of him after killing 10,356 dudes on the screen, way to go!

Jeff Brown, spokesman for Electronic Arts, said in a statement that "the certainty of a constitutional challenge makes this a hollow gesture. Several courts have affirmed that games enjoy the same constitutional protections as movies, books and television and I expect they will come to the same conclusion in California.''

Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil

The Expansion set of Doom 3 has been released for Xbox, that means i will have to buy it just for the sake of having it. I got Doom 3 for the X but I still haven't played because my life is so busy.
Anyway, I've already played it on my PC, kinda slow motion though, and when I tried to install Doom3 RoE I couldn't. So I must get this game to avoid replaying Doom3 and to have a boost on Speed. Just like Farcry..Damn that games was so slow on some points, even taking out all the fancy effects, I sure needed to buy an $800 graphic card.

This is the best point when deciding to buy a console. You don't have to upgrade it every month, and you are mostly sure that everygame will do well.

1up's Take at Fanart

1up has published a nice article in their website (like they usually do) about fans and video games. It's got all about VG fandom. Cosplay, fanfic, fanart,fan...i don't know, anyway give it aread, don't just sit all day playing games.

Virus for PSP and DS

The era of portable system and console vioruses has come ladies and gentleman. We no longer will be safe playing our games without some fuck ruining all the fun. There's a virus out there that makes your PSP useless, so you can use it as whatever you like besides playing. And you know what? If you got a Nintendo DS you can be infected too!! Cool!!!..Not.
So, what to do? Don't accept anything or even llok at anything with the name of r0mloader or taihen. Don't say I didn't warn you. this is a Trojan viruas that will affect your GBAMP firmware and the Supercard firmware.

    The OTHER Megaman Collection

Have you checked the Megaman Collection? I'm not talking about the game that went out from Capcom featuring the Classic Megaman Games. I'm talking about the Newgrounds Megaman Collection!!! It has tons of Megaman Stuff, from Parodies, to games and little movies. Worth to check if you are a Megaman like myself. I really wish i was in Japan just to buy those cool toys and collectible figures they have there, like the sculpture of Mai Shiranui I put on the first VG Babe of the Week. Speaking of it, let me know any suggestions for the VGB. C'mon I know you like it, if you have pics the better, it was somewhat hard to find good Morrigan pics, I don't know why.. A couple of years ago it was easier dontcha think?

Violence in Videogames - Again and again

Today I grabbed a Reader's Digest that talked about violence in videogames. With all that crap of psychologists talking about how games can make kids go violent and how people that play videogames are no longer touched by certain subjects and they get used to killing and blah blah. I really don't know why people keep talking about this. Maybe it's just to fill pages. It seems violence around the world started when GTA was launched. Of course it is crap. crap crap crap.
It makes me mad, is like blaming music. There are tangible, real causes for violence that are far more obvious. I'm not saying video games can't spark violence on people, it sure does but on a very small percentage. And the violence within those subjects has its roots in other aspects, like abuse, low self esteem, depression, racism, bad parents or lack of freedom.

    Video Game History

Check out this page about the history of the videogames. Learn how it all began over 50 years ago. That's a long time! This page has a great design I like it. It from the guys at PBS. They actually make great documentaries. Plus in this page you'll find some picks of the best and worst games. Some of them are crap for me.
Check out the timeline too. Definetly a great resources. Y'know, a player must know his history.

    The Video Game Music Archive

This site VGMusic, has a MIDI archive of 20,000 video game tunes for you to enjoy. They have all the files properly ctegorized according to Game System and Title. Really Cool, specially if you want to throw a Nintendo Party at your crib. They even have a VGRadio 14 hours of continued played. Y'all must check out this, there are actually great pieces of music from Video games, I like the Castlevania Ones.
